Yup…more snow, but first we went through the catalog of Winter weather to cover all the bases…
First there was more snow, sigh…we are really tired of the snow in case you hadn’t noticed;)

But hey, it is February, not April, OK, we can get snow in April as well, let’s not dwell on that! We sadly had to say goodbye to two more miniature donkeys at Jennifer’s, Clio and Hillary, too cold, too old, they don’t withstand those -20’s temperatures as they age…so very very sad. You were my favourite Hillary:( I cannot imagine how Jennifer is feeling, she has one left, Winston, Winnie, he’s stout, let’s hope he’s tough, I couldn’t take another going, pulling them out of their stalls, frozen, enough. It’s a bad month for me anyway as we lost Maya last year, this month, it just hasn’t been the same. F*ck I hate February!
So STOP snowing. Ask me in the morning, I can’t see anything out there as the windows are covered in ice. That is how it started this morning, rain, then freezing rain, then ice pellets, then snow, then more ice pellets, now more snow…you get the title now.
I did sit outside this morning as it started to rain, under the eaves, the birds were so busy, they know, stock up, but something else, the Red Bellied Woodpeckers are in courtship mode! Must be a sign of Spring…maybe? Not to say Mrs. Red Bellied was that interested but he, well, was horny;) Ha!

What happened to our sun? It seems a few days ago we were sitting soaking it up, the long lost driveway gravel had appeared under it’s coating of ice and snow!

Gamora went to the end, where the ice started again, looked at me, gave a audible kitty meow…and walked back…we’re not quite there yet. The sunny break was nice though!

I picked up a free glass at the Reuse Store in Smiths Falls, thinking it would make a great Blue Jay peanut holder…except they couldn’t figure out HOW to get the peanuts out…sigh…Nope…until Einstein Blue Jay came along.

I came back one afternoon from town to find all my colourful seed dishes…gone..0_0! What the heck? They are heavy little clay dishes, don’t think a squirrel could get them, raccoon? Raven? Inspector Groot is on the job!

He still hasn’t solved the Wise Snowmen extorsion case, or why they got knocked off the table and lost their carrot noses, but he’s working on it! The Snowmen are enjoying spa treatment and maybe some rhinoplasty in the Fall;)
We did wake up to an amazing sunrise this week, I was so in need of a colourful landscape, don’t get me wrong, I love photographing birds, but not JUST birds;) Ha!

The colour started and it just kept going up! I could see the nose of the canoe and someone/thing had walked all over it!

What a glorious sight! Our wonderful friend Jim told me later that he looked out the bathroom window and thought to himself…..’I hope Pamela is capturing this!!’ Yeah baby! It was a no socks in the rubber boots, one jacket -5°C no wind kind of morning…perfection!
With the sun and the melt came dripping water and cool patterns in the driveway mud, who knew!

The water was dripping off the few remaining milkweed seeds, and I couldn’t help but think we were in Fools Spring…So far still so much left to go but that was so nice, that reminder of what Spring can be!

Spring…only 27 days 15 hours and 19 minutes away….We have entered 2nd Winter.

Our feathered neighbours certainly don’t seem to mind the ups and downs, as long as there is FOOD!

The Evening Grosbeaks are always a joyous dash of colour, they are not here every day but put in occasional appearances!

The rest of the gang is busy, bickering, lot’s of bickering right now, and eating!

The Goldfinches are getting brighter every day!

The Tree Sparrows are a delight of colours that shouldn’t match, but they do!

The White Breasted Nuthatches are striking their poses, I even saw a Red Breasted Nuthatch but it was too quick for me! Glad to see they are about as well.

Can’t forget these guys!…and of course the Blue Jays were jumping for joy our one heatwaveish day! It may not be a word but it is now;)

Not just birds either! Our large rodent friends are out and about collecting for the incoming weather!

Gamora still swears they are Canadian Cartel Squirrels!
I am getting to feel like I should do more cat relaxing 101…I am done shoveling, I just got the stairs all cleaned off and the pathways around the house passable, it did entail at least one good slip/fall, ouch, but hey, it’s Winter, still. We will face what we have in the morning. In the meantime, I need to practice more Rocket moves;)

I missed my calling in life… I should have been an orange cat;) Live long and prosper amigos;) Spring is coming, albeit slowly, it is coming….I am thankful for ANY colour:)
