Invasion of the Dinosaurs…the world according to Groot…

Pterodactyls have been here!!! Hiss, hiss! Backstory…yesterday morning we let the cats out for their supervised morning walk. I’d noticed Gamora had been looking at something intently out the window just before and there on the lawn…two Wild Turkeys, I mean pterodactyls;) (I actually pronounced it with the P most of my life…sigh…school helps for some things;)…) Rocket ran halfway across the lawn and came to a skidding stop, “Thembs BIG Müther!” as did Gamora. Groot took one look from the alcove and went directly back inside! “Clear the lawn Private Rocket!” he ordered and would not come back out until the two left! Ha!

These guys! It’s nice to see the Wild Turkeys, none were harmed for Thanksgiving! They strutted around on the lawn between the house and the lake on Sunday morning cleaning up under the bird feeder! General Groot does not engage in combat except with chipmunks! Let’s make that clear troops!

Good thing Groot didn’t see the young buck wander by. Mike spied him and I took some shots through the window so as not to startle him! Going down for a drink of water no doubt, before finishing off the lilies 😉 We live with nature here…

Always a treat to see such a beautiful deer! I was walking out to check the mail and I just got that feeling…♫♪♫ Somebody’s watching meeee…..♫♪♫…I stopped, and peered through the trees…Hello there! A beautiful Barred Owl!

So wonderful to watch this owl as I walked out on the road, it didn’t seem that concerned as I walked along, just watching:) We hear them often, calling to each other across the lake, so many different sounds! They make a wild gurgling-meow, that’s what I call it anyway! At least the bear has kept his/her distance so far!

Along the road, all the berries and seeds are starting to come into their prime! The Winterberry Holly and so much more!

I always try and read about the different berries, some edible, some toxic, pretty wild! With all the rain it’s been fun trying to photograph the remaining flowers, leaves and their water drops! But you know what…no frost yet.

I probably just cursed us;) Maybe this weekend! I can’t believe the last month has gone by so quickly…Putting the cords of firewood away, getting the yard cleaned up, what happened to my house elves? Wait, they’re cats, never mind;) This little guy has been busy collecting maple seeds!

It’s always a good idea to stockpile heavily for Winter! Those are some full cheeks!

The colours have peaked I think, it’s getting lighter at the house as the trees are slowly losing their leaves, more sun on the bed Rocket says, “Yeah!” It lasts but such a short time. I am so sad to see the colour go.

Colours are amazing but the leaves are falling quickly!

I keep waiting for the tame Trumpeter swans to show up, but not yet, maybe this year they passed us by. I have cracked corn handy if they do decide to stop by and say hi:) I’ll enjoy the amazing morning mists as the days grow colder, and the lake as well, but still warmer than the outside air:)

Some very loud honking Canada Geese decided to photobomb the mists as I stood there watching the colours change.

Then the sun came up, and the pinks faded quickly; light does such amazing things! This is the the misty time of year! Yeah! Time to get out for a paddle, the young Loonlet and mother are still here! They swam by just a little while ago! I’ll leave you with this years baby. Saludos amigos, hopefully we’ll have more mists and magic to come!

I think just Mother is with the juvenile Loon now. He starts hollering if she is gone too long;) Trying to convince him to come a bit closer;)
