“A day in the life of the Milkweed patch” and other things that can bug you;)
I go out every morning with Mike and the Mewberries and make a beeline, often with my feline companions, to the Milkweed bush. What is the surprise bug of the day? It is wild the amount of life that happens in this small patch of Milkweed and the surrounding maples, ironwoods and “who knows what they are plants”, that’s an official term;) How about the smallest frog I have ever seen, about the size of my baby finger fingernail!
My first Spring Peeper! A wee little tadger with suction cup feet like a tree frog!
One morning was red and black bug day! Who knew there were so many different guys hanging around, dressed somewhat alike? Must be in fashion 😉
Mike and The Mewberries generally don’t get as excited as I do by the new faces, antennae, whatever! Ha!
I really enjoy the changing show! Sometimes it’s Green!
Sometimes bug porn! Oh my! Get a room, leaf, whatever! Ha!
Sometimes it is the flowers around the milkweed bush that are hosting the parties!
I love the Harvestmen spiders, daddy long-legs, so cool!
Then there are the visiting butterflies and moths as well! Waiting for the Swallowtails and Monarchs still!

Sometimes the green is really odd! The maple bladder-gall mite itself is microscopic. However, it is visible through the gall that it produces. The galls produced by the maple spindle gall mite are not rounded, but rather elongate. While unsightly to some, they do not cause major damage to the maple trees themselves, and don’t often distort the leaves. Very cool!
Sometimes you get soldiers…yup, or wild hot rod bugs! Check out the side pipes on this multi legged beauty, a Nephrotoma cornicina-a member of the Large Crane Flies Family! Ha! Racing stripes as well;)
Sometimes we get a few different species in the shot, or just a really cool daytime flying moth! Ha! Little dragons!
All in this one little area:) Isn’t nature amazing! Then there comes a bug that can’t help but make you grin ear to ear!
So small, but so cool you couldn’t have even imagined it:) Red-banded Leafhopper:) That’s what you can see when you go look every morning!
I’ll be back in the morning, looking, waiting, turning leaves over occasionally to see what might be there:) Have I bugged you enough? Ha! I’ll leave you with a break in the clouds we had a few days ago.
