Nature’s fireworks and other marvels

We have had some torrential rains! Short, but insanely intense cloudbursts have been filling up the canoe! Enough bailing! Ha! Then we got this present…a rainbow and those skies!

The incoming storm had looked intense, the aftermath was beautiful!

No tornado warnings here but closer to Kingston they did have them. The rain was hard on the road but Mike found, through a childhood friend a lovely man to come grade it today with his tractor and blade! No more giant ruts or potholes…until the next torrential rain, but we have his number now! Ha!!
The weather has been all over the board, smoke yesterday, so hazy and you could smell it. The morning before was cooler, wonderful to open all the windows and let everything cool down. And the mists! 36° forecast for Tuesday, Lordy, Lordy, Lordy! That’s just TOO hot!

The rains have been hard on the plants and birds. I saw the Ruby-throated male had gone back into a mating behaviour, a flight pattern they do just for that. Could be the babies were washed right out of their nests! So sad…we’ll cross our fingers and wait for the juveniles, they may be late this year!

The young Baltimore Orioles are learning the ropes! Either Dad or Mother brings them to the feeders, hangs around supervising! Learning how to eat grapes is hard work!

The little sister came along later! Big sibling had to show her how it’s done! Ha!

Never a dull moment;) The Red Bellied Juveniles are up and running, want to confuse them…change to red grapes! “What’s Dat?” Ha!

The road has been pretty quiet with the exception of the Red-eyed Vireos and the Song Sparrows. Getting their fill of bugs!

Down at the lakeside, the Eastern Phoebes are getting their fill of deer flies! Yeah!
The wildflowers are constantly changing along the road. I try to keep an eye out for anything different. The rains were so hard on them! Battering them to the ground. Not all the milkweed will pop back!:( Flowers rained right off the plants!

It’s always amazing to see the blaze of colour along the road!

The grasses are blooming as well, long spires of flowers! And this climbing plant is beautiful as well, winding it’s way up whatever is close!

Summer, so much to see and photograph:) It’s a bit of a system overload sometimes! The deer flies have arrived in force the last few days so road walking is a quick affair, not much dawdling unless you are willing to swat! The attire is complete with long sleeves and a mesh headress, even gloves when it gets really bad, but it’s the best natural treadmill in the world:)
I’ll catch up next on the finally arriving Swallowtails and Monarchs! Such a joy to see them finally landing somewhat! They are a welcome sight, along with the Summer Dragonflies! I’ll leave you with a Halloween Pennant I caught right after a heavy rain shower! Finally, a dragonfly with raindrops on it! Woohoo! ¡Saludos, amigos!
