Goodbye May, hello June!

I heard this swan honking quietly, if that’s possible, before I wandered down to the lakeside to watch him/her swim by. It’s time to go check the nesting couple as well to see how things are coming along! Spring…So many returning birds, bugs and flowers. It’s been slow, but it’s coming!
Along the road and out by the mailboxes I encountered a few Song Sparrows, busy singing, and bringing home the bacon/bugs;)

Back at the house the number of Orioles coming and going and nattering at me has been wild. I counted at least 6 different birds! Last year’s kids? I don’t know. There hasn’t been a lot of fighting between them, so must be family;)…wait…they should be fighting more! ha!

I looked up one afternoon as we were herding the Mewberries back to the house after their afternoon RV visit, yes, they have to go sit in the RV at times. We can dream about warm sandy beaches, margaritas, and fish tacos can’t we?! Ha! A single Cedar Waxwing was eating the apple blossom petals, just the one! Always a treat to see!

Of course I have been stalking the hummingbirds as well. The female must be nesting, no sign of her. Mr. Fancy pants is keeping an eye on his feeders! He has looked at my new flowers, but so far can’t catch him having a drink at any! We will keep on stalking;)

It’s hard to know where to look! Sometimes things just fly by! If you are not there watching, it never happened;) I thought this Osprey might have a fish, but no, nesting material!

The Mewberries have enjoyed the warm weather…no one can enjoy warmth like an orange cat! A time to day dream:)

The birds often view them with a sideways glance, “Oh, they’re out!” but go about their regular feeder visits as long as they keep their distance!

It has quieted down in the LBB category, the little brown, white, and yellow birds have headed off to the forest to nest! The Hairy, Downy, and Red Bellied woodpeckers are regulars, along with the Blue Jays and White-breasted Nuthatches. The crows have learned to dive bomb the Grackles after they leave the suet feeder, snack in hand, er beak, it gets dropped, the snack, and the crow goes and eats it…For every bully, there is a bigger one;) …The bird mafia.
Occasionally, the Mewberries do their job and wake me up very, very early! “Look Müther! Beautiful sunrise! Treat time right?” of course…

I had to swap lenses and go back out, that was wild!

Red sky in morning…you know the ditty:) Armagedeon did not come, thankfully;) Those flat calm mornings without a breath of wind are mesmerizing! Sometimes I should head down sooner but coffee needs to be manually inserted before brain activity starts;)

♪♫♪ You are my shining star…♫♪♫

Starbursts are fun to play with:) F22 1/160 sec ISO 100 at 24mm. I used the canoe body to hide the water reflection! It was bright!
So, other than the ticks we deal with on an everyday basis, I did mention the bear had been around…cats were doing a lot of sniffing, holy crap, literally, they leave big deposits wherever they go!

When they catch a whiff, they can look quite alarmed! Rightly so! I had to take the shovel to remove the piles as big as Gamora!
Life in the country:) I won’t be doing any star trail photography for a bit, and it’s full moon anyway, so nah, I’ll wait until the bear moves on! Sorry Professor Paul, we’ll work on it new moon! 😉 Besides, Captain Kirk has received our distress call and he’s on his way! Didn’t you know?! Ha! If only. I was hoping for Picard, Data and Doctor Crusher with her TR-580 Mark VII medical tricorder (hahahaha!) to take away all my aches and pains but I will have to settle for Dr. McCoy’s bio beds in sick bay 😉 …I did my homework anyway Prof;)
Our camera club winds up next week, last meeting, sad to see it go, but there are enough splinter groups to keep things lively I think. I look forward to our Group W Bench coffee mornings. I need a bit of a social life;) Don’t I? I do. Saludos amigos, stay tuned for swan news and maybe a trip to the Heron rookery!
