How can we not marvel at things? Conifercone Cap (Baeospora myosura)
I have to admit I’m a slow-moving land mammal;) Good thing I don’t have to worry about cheetahs or anything overtaking me, well, maybe the bear;) I try not to worry about these things, karma is as it is!
Saturday, our day went wonderfully haywire when two lovely people, Laurie and Russell, who built our/their wonderful cottage on their family property here on Long Lake in 1994 stopped by for a surprise visit! I was in my Saturday Hawkeye Pierce Mode, i.e. working outside shoveling dirt and moving plants around, deer-eaten plants, still in my pajamas, why not? It’s been 21 years since they were here! Their son Peter rode at Ranyhyn during the summer as well! It was amazing hearing the stories and going, OK, now I get it, moments! What a delightful visit! And that dock they built back in ’94, still going strong for the Little Red Canoe! Thanks Russell:) BIG GRIN!
I am a wanderer, a slow one as I mentioned, but there is SO much to see. I decided to go ALL the way out the road the other day, giving the body a good walk and shake-up! Ha! So much life! That pine cone- who knew there were mushrooms specialized in growing in them!
It astounds me what I find as I slowly walk, peer into the grass beside the road, or something catches my eye! Who names these things? Bristled Parachute- is there an unbristled one? Earthstar? Mouse-pee Pinkgill? What did it deserve to be called this?! Ha! Dog Vomit Slime Mold?! Who knew it came in yellow as well? Ha!
Mushrooms with frilly edges and some have slug friends! How about two for the price of one:)
One walk, OK, maybe two… and there are entire colonies as well!
Or just go big or solo! Ha! The one was 8″ across!
Then there are boobieshrooms! Ha! OK, Earthstars, great name by the way!
There are goobie ones and jellies as well!
Not to mention the corals and spindles!
What about the collared parachutes? Versus the turned-down collar? I dunno!
OK, this might have been two walks;) What a wild fungi year! The colours! Those white ones you do NOT want to eat! Ha! Eastern North American Destroying Angel 0_0!
…then there are the tree ones! Ha!
There are also the gills, brittlegills, and russulas! Yup…pink mushrooms! The Mouse pee-pinkgill that is yellow takes the cake for best name!
If you are as confused as I am by mushrooms and their names and classifications, then we are in the same boat;) The ID’s are from iNaturalist, so they may or may not be right. I’m trying to learn them all! What a wild, wild world out there! I have way too many photos! These are just the fungi. I’ll torture you tomorrow with the bugs and flowers and seeds I find along the way as well;) Saludos, amigos! Happy Monday to all from Long Lake:)
