Could it be Spring? Or Spring of Deception?

We have made contact with the canoe! Yesterdays sun and above freezing temperatures liberated the nose!

I could see the nose of the canoe, that must give us hope! We’ve had a day or two over freezing! Could it be? The snow might MELT?! Now, before I jump and down with glee I will be taking into account the consequences of the melt into mind…erosion, if it happens too quickly and even worse with rain, it could be a very bad washing away of gravel…sigh…OK. We’ve cut holes through the snow banks to allow the water to run off in a few directions, perhaps this year we can save the hill from becoming the new river of Spring:) We’ll be on it like flies on sh*t…promise;) But then Monday morning…this:

How this morning started…lordy lordy lordy, tell me this was the last morning like this in March😳 on the plus side, it warmed up way more than they said☺️ stay tuned for the rain…

It’s the roller coaster we ride here. But, it’s coming. Territories are being drawn, birds are getting cranky, especially the boys! All mine they are saying!

Between the snow, and melt, the birds look as confused and disgusted as me some mornings!

I make up conversations they are having…my feathered neighbours! Friendly banter, arguments…;)

Part of the fun of photographing birds is watching their behaviour!

..and hey, I might not have THAT many more days of photographing them in the snow, preferable than in the rain;)

“Sun? What a bunch of bamboozled birds you are, a bunch of malarkey and brouhaha, Spring, sun…sigh…! Such nincompoops!” said the doves…

It’s hard when they call for sun, and you get snow;)

As I said, the Woodpeckers have been very very chatty. When the cold snap came, with the snow, it was major cranky time, and time to fill their faces!

When perhaps you bit off a bit more than you can chew? 😳….
But down the hatch it goes regardless…I swear the last shot looked like a bird burp…Ha! “I can’t believe I ate the WHOLE thing!”

These Tree Sparrows are opportunists! They sit below the suet feeder as the Woodpeckers arrive and clean up the falling crumbs!

Red Bellied Woodpeckers mainly eat insects, spiders, and other arthropods, it eats plenty of plant material, too. In particular, acorns, nuts, and pine cones, as well as seeds extracted from annual and perennial plants and (particularly in fall and winter) fruits ranging from grapes and hackberries to oranges and mangoes. Occasionally eats lizards, nestling birds, even minnows. No minows right now though;)

Time to learn more about them, I read that Blue Jays migrated…ours obviously didn’t get the memo!

Don’t tell them! I would miss that flash of colour! Along with the Goldfinches that are starting to get quite colourful! So much diversity, are you tired of birds yet? Ha!

I was pretty excited when the squirrels started chasing each other around…must be a hint of Spring! Grey, red and black, it’s not birds! Yeah! The black (grey squirrel) looked like a vampire with his snow covered face! Maybe Gamora was right to fear them! 😉

Definitely ready for Spring, the ground, rocks, anything but snow banks would be good!

I took a photo of the moon rising last night, I wasn’t planning on getting up for the moon eclipse as we would not be able to see it through the trees! Mike got up once at 5 am, cloudy to the West he said shaking his head.

I do have the The Mewberries to watch as well! They have been struck with Spring fever as well! They can SEE the driveway! A bit of sparring has been going on as well…boys;)

Groot doesn’t usually start the fights, he is after all, King, but this morning he had a gleam in his eye when he took the first bappity bap at Rocket above him!
Then the Kung Fu fighting started…
After a few right jabs, Rocket resorted to his long left to counter Groot…then they made peace and both sat and watched the birds…orange cats…that squint on Rocket! Ha!

Now that the table is snow free it is a great perch to watch the birds! Gamora did a little victory dance over the snow, I told her not to get too cocky or we might be shoveling again!

“She’s a bad Mama Jama!”

For Valentines day the cats bought Mike some socks…;) They wanted to welcome him into their tribe;)

Life is too short to wear white socks;) “Holy Camouflage Batman! He IS a cat!”

Birds, squirrels and cats, welcome to my world, ah, for a few landscapes to restore my sanity, might be too late;) Everyone looks at the world in a different way…

It’s been a tense few days, everyone feeling it. Just seems the world is being led down a slippery slope by an orange demented child killing, among other horrible things, madman and his fanatic religious cohorts…crazy times. Maybe I should work on my best Dirty Harry/Henrietta stare…it might not actually need that much work Mike said, he’s my new personal trainer;)

This Hairy Woodpecker male was swearing up a storm (at least that is what it sounded like;)..) at another Hairy approaching, then I got the glare stare as well! Ha!

In the meantime amigos, surround yourselves with those you love and like. A good meal, appreciate it, a nice glass of wine. Find a nice warm place and hopefully nature will take it’s course on the old orange and we can move on feeling a bit more relaxed. 0_0…Rocket says not to badmouth all oranges, he’s “the best worst cat ever” he says…So, Gamora keeps telling him, but I think she leaves out the best part;)

Abrazos amigos.

“Take it easy!” said the best worst cat ever;)
